Plans For New Oxford Public Library Come Into Focus

The size of the library would more than triple.

Nearly half of the town’s residents have library cards and someday soon they may have an actual library building to go to.

Since 1978 the Oxford Public Library has been located in the Town Hall basement, the Waterbury Republican-American reports.

Haynes Development, which is proposing a $70 million mixed-use development, is proposing to create a 10,000 square-foot library as part of the proposed project, reports reporter Jordan Otero.

The library would be located at 297 Oxford Road.

The proposed development includes a Price Chopper grocery store, a drive-thru pharmacy, 150 residential units, a bank, medical facility, automotive service center, a chain restaurant, and smaller retailers, the Republican-American reports.

The project would generate almost $900,000 annually in tax revenue.
