T.J. Maxx Heading to Southbury, Not Far From Oxford Border
The store will fill the vacant Borders store space.

If there are any "Maxxionistas" here in Oxford, they will be thrilled to hear that a new T.J. Maxx store will soon be coming to neighboring Southbury.
, a favorite among discount shoppers that uses the term "Maxxionistas" - a play on words from the term "fashionistas" that T.J. Maxx advertisers use to describe women who shop for discounted yet fashionable clothes - will fill the vacant Borders book store space in the Southbury Plaza, where many Oxford residents shop.
Southhaven Associates, LLC, owners of the Southbury Plaza, made the announcement this week.

T.J. Maxx, which is owned by TJX Companies, will fill about 22,000 square feet of space.
Work will start immediately and the store is expected to open in early spring, according to a Southhaven Associates press release.

T.J. Maxx sells brand name clothes, women's shoes and home goods at discounted prices, and it runs about 890 stores in 48 states.
“We are excited about bringing T.J. Maxx to Southbury Plaza,” said Southhaven executive, Christopher Gatto. “The opening of T.J. Maxx will create an additional retail opportunity for area shoppers, and the new store will also fit nicely within our existing tenant mix,” he said. “We take great pride in our center and we strive to seek out tenants that will add value to our center, and to the local community.”
T.J. Maxx is the most recent of several additions to the shopping center. Premier Wine and Spirits opened a new store in October and opened earlier this month.
The Southbury Shopping Plaza is at the intersection of Main Street North and Main Street South. Other tenants include , Kmart, , Radio Shack, and AT&T.
