The 14U District IV lost it's first game of the tournament on Saturday.

Ridgefield 0 – Brookfield 8
On Saturday, 9 July, Ridgefield’s suffered its first loss of the tournament. Playing Brookfield in the winner’s bracket finals, Ridgefield couldn’t get anything going against Brookfield’s starter Farias. He pitched a complete game and held the Ridgefield offense to just four hits and two walks. The loss sent theto a game against Danbury in the loser’s bracket finals on Sunday, 10 July.

Ridgefield 10 – Danbury 3
Ridgefield’s 14U District Team defeated Danbury on Sunday morning to win the loser’s bracket finals and earn a rematch with Brookfield for the District IV Championship. Danbury took an early lead on an un-earned run in the top of the first inning of Ridgefield’s starter Michael Latorre. Ridgefield struck back with six straight hits to start their half of the first to nock Danbury’s starter from the game. Wright Lindgren led off with a sharp double to the gap followed by a single from Liam Smith. Joe Ammirato then hit a towering three-run homerun over the left field fence to give Ridgefield the lead. Shane Murphy kept it going with a solid double to left and scored on a double by Joe Coyle. Sam Sarath then blasted a two-run homerun over the center field fence to make the score 6 – 1. Ridgefield never looked back and added four more runs in the sixth to pad their lead. Craig Burke hit a clutch two out three-run double to right center to cap the scoring. Michael Latorre pitched a complete game four hitter for the win. With the victory, Ridgefield moved on to the district championship series against Brookfield, which started Sunday afternoon.

Ridgefield 11 – Brookfield 4
Ridgefield’s 14U District Team reached the finals of the District IV Tournament in Danbury on Sunday and earned a chance to avenge their lost to Brookfield in the third round. Brookfield got on the scoreboard first with a run in the bottom of the first inning off Ridgefield starter Sam Sarath. In the top of the second, Ridgefield answered with four runs on singles by Joe Coyle, Adam Keleman, Robert Fornshell, a double by Sam Sarath and a sacrifice fly by Nick Manderlink. In this must win game for Ridgefield, they plated three more runs in the third. After a walk to Joe Ammirato, Joe Coyle drove a double to left center to plate Ammirato from first base. Nick Manderlink followed with a double to score Coyle and Adam Keleman singled to score Manderlink. With Ridgefield up 7 – 2, Brookfield scored solo runs in the third and fourth innings, but never got any closer. In the seventh, Ridgefield added four more runs to cap the victory. Sam Sarath pitched a complete game for the win, scattering eleven hits and striking out five. Ridgefield and Brookfield now play one more game Monday night at Roger’s Park in Danbury. The winner will be the District IV Champions.
