Christine Donner Kitchen Design Inc., a New Canaan based kitchen & bath design firm, is expanding its services to include consulting. The 12 year old firm, often featured in magazines and on the New Canaan Cares Kitchen Tour, will continue to offer its full service package of design, cabinetry and project management, but will now accept clients for consulting-only work.
“I’m seeing a lot of renovators, particularly young families, who are under contract with their builder for all the materials, so they don’t need my full package, which includes cabinets – very fine quality cabinets,” says Christine Donner, the firm’s principal. “But they are very much in need of design services and advice. A kitchen is a very personal thing, and they need more than the generic layout they’ve been offered. I walk my clients through the process carefully, helping with appliance choices and lighting, understanding traffic flow, storage and countertop materials. And I always introduce new materials they weren’t aware of. While the business model for home renovation has changed, the need for hands-on design services is as strong as ever. And we’re there for them.”
