RAC Swimmers Recognized at CT Swimming Awards Banquet

22 Ridgefield Aquatic Club swimmers were recognized on Sunday, November 6th, at the annual CT Swimming Awards Banquet at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville, CT. The event showcases the best swimmers from Connecticut, based on performances from the previous 12 months. The banquet had approximately 900 parents, officials and swimmers in attendance, representing the almost 6000 members of CT Swimming. 

Each of the invited swimmers received an award for finishing in the Top 16 in their respective events. RAC swimmers included (shown in photo from front to back) Austin Kenyon, Victor Cai, AJ Bornstein, Jeffrey Gilbert, Jared Nussbaum, Kieran Smith, Kevin Santoro, Katie Nejati, Sophie Hayes, Jake Yarmolowitz, Marcie Maguire, Michelle Cai, Lexo Walker, Lindsay Gordon, Grayson Smith, Courtney Kenyon, Ben Nussbaum (missing from photo Brian Bollerman, Andrew Klutey, Faith Martin, Emily Motill and Christopher Myers).

In addition to the CT Top 16 recognition, RAC swimmers achieved some additional honors. Bollerman, Klutey, C. Kenyon, Myers and G. Smith were recognized as CT Scholar Athletes based on academic performance. Bollerman, Klutey, Myers and Smith were also recognized as USASwimming Scholastic All-Americans based on academic performance as well as USA Swimming time standards. 

K. Smith received two trophies for winning the individual high points and distance high points awards at the CT Age Group Short Course Championships in the spring. The Girls 12/U team also received a trophy for team winner at the CT Age Group Long Course Championships in the summer.

During the year, Martin set six new girls 17/18 CT records and two new CT Senior records and K. Smith set five new boys 10/U CT records. Bollerman and Martin are Olympic Trial qualifiers; Klutey is a US National Championship qualifier; and G. Smith is a US Jr. National Championship qualifier.
