
Four Ridgefield Aquatic Club swimmers represented the CT Zone Team at the prestigious US Eastern Zone Short Course Age Group Championships in Webster, New York March 28 – 30th. 80 swimmers from Connecticut swam for team CT competing against the best Age Group Swimmers from Virginia to Maine.
AJ Bornstein led the CT 11-12 year old boys with 1st
place finishes in the 200 Fly, 100 Breaststroke and 200 Breaststroke. His 200 Breaststroke time of 2:10:95 set a
new Eastern Zone Meet record – taking down the 2006 record of 2:13:52 and is the second fastest time ever recorded by USA swimming in the US for 12 year old boys in that event. He had 2nd place finishes in the 50 Breaststroke and 200 Individual Medley. He swam breaststroke for the CT 200 Medley Relay that finished 4th. Also at the Connecticut Senior Opens held in Middletown, CT the previous weekend AJ set a new State and Resident Record in the 400 Individual Medley – taking down the previous record by 5 seconds.
Kieran Smith was the second highest scorer for the CT 11-12 year old boys achieving all personal best times and placing 4th in the 50 Fly and 500 Freestyle, 6th in the 200 Fly, 7th in the 100 Fly and 200 Individual Medley, and 10th in the 100 Freestyle. Kieran was also anchor
for the 5th place CT 200 and 400 Yard Freestyle Relay teams, and swam Fly for the 4th place CT 200 Medley Relay Team.

Hannah Snyder swam 6 events for the CT 11-12 year old girls scoring for the CT team by taking 9th in the 200 Free and anchored the CT 400 Freestyle Relay team that took 2nd . Liam Riebling represented CT in the 1650
Freestyle event swimming a personal best and finished 14th
overall.
