Battle Of Ridgefield To Be Commemorated With Reenactment
The town will celebrate the 245th anniversary of the Battle of Ridgefield with a reenactment of the actual battle.
RIDGEFIELD, CT — The town will celebrate the 245th anniversary of the Battle of Ridgefield with a reenactment of the actual battle, as well as a ball and a burial, the weekend of Apr. 29 - May 1.
Revolutionary War reenactment troupe the 5th Connecticut Regiment will be firing the shots and plunging the bayonets. The historically accurate mock battle will be played out across Lounsbury House, Ballard Park and Jesse Lee United Methodist Church.
The Musket Ball Gala at Lounsbury House on Apr. 30 will also feature actors, in addition to food and music. Tickets will cost $150.
On Sunday, May 1, the recently-discovered skeletal remains believed to be those of soldiers who lost their lives during the Battle of Ridgefield will be given a proper burial, at a location determined by the Graveyard Restoration Committee. Period coffins will be provided by Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home.
