Upcoming Open Houses In Ridgefield

Nine Ridgefield homes hold open houses Oct. 31-Nov. 1, from a $395,000 Fox Hill condo to a $1.9 million lake-view contemporary.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — Ridgefield's open-house lineup for Halloween weekend reads like a gallery walk. There's a circa-1890 carriage house a few steps from Main Street, whose listing calls it "simply a work of art," and a lakeside contemporary reworked by its interior-designer owner. A Mid-Century modern ranch that its listing pitches to artists seeking room to work is on the list too, along with two homes looking out over Lake Mamanasco.

Nine Ridgefield homes are holding open houses Saturday, Oct. 31, and Sunday, Nov. 1, with prices from $395,000 to $1,899,000, according to Zillow.com. All but one are open only on Sunday.

24 Saunders Lane, 12:30 to 2 p.m., $850,000. This five-bedroom, three-bath home is a Mid-Century modern with single-level living, 2,397 square feet and what the listing calls an unusually level lot of more than an acre (1.29 acres, per Zillow). A sunroom connects the living room and kitchen, and the listing pitches the layout to blended households, remote workers and "artists seeking space to make their own." It has an attached two-car garage plus a detached four-car garage, and the listing describes it as a home with room to bring your own vision.

5 Grape Lane #5, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., $395,000. This two-bedroom, 1.5-bath condo in the Fox Hill community is a ranch-style unit with 1,074 square feet and pond views. Hardwood floors run through the main living areas, the living room has an electric fireplace, and sliders from the living room and primary bedroom open to a private courtyard. The community has a pool and recreation area, and Zillow lists a $592 monthly HOA fee.

177 Mamanasco Road, 1 to 3 p.m., $900,000. This three-bedroom, 3.5-bath contemporary looks out on Lake Mamanasco, and its listing says the extensive renovation reflects the vision of its interior-designer owner. A custom cable-railed staircase leads up to the main living level, which has a redesigned fireplace, a 2023 kitchen with maple cabinetry and an induction cooktop, and a nearly 26-foot all-season sunroom with a vaulted ceiling and walls of glass. The home has 1,953 square feet on 0.56 acres, and the listing says it's a walk to the private Mamanasco Beach Club, where membership is optional.

36 Catoonah Street #16, 1 to 3 p.m., $1,300,000. This three-bedroom, three-bath condo began around 1890 as a carriage house and barn and became a Victoria Gate residence in 1986, according to the listing. Gray-washed barn siding, barn doors, a brick-floored entry and original exposed beams carry the history inside, and the main level has vaulted ceilings, barnwood floors, a floor-to-ceiling window and a wood-burning brick fireplace. Each bedroom has its own bath, and the primary suite adds a fireplace. The 1,852-square-foot home is steps from Main Street's restaurants and galleries, and Zillow lists a $915 monthly HOA fee.

33 Partridge Drive, 1 to 3 p.m., $819,000. This four-bedroom, two-bath home sits on a cul-de-sac next to conservation land, with 2,076 square feet on 1.22 acres. A family room with vaulted ceilings and a skylight opens to a wraparound deck, and three of the bedrooms are on the main floor. The lower level has a fourth bedroom, a full bath and space the listing suggests for a home office or playroom. The listing cites a new roof and fresh exterior paint, and a detached garage measures 24 by 30 feet.

10 Hillcrest Court, 2 to 4 p.m., $1,899,000. This seven-bedroom, three-bath home sits high above Lake Mamanasco on 2.51 acres bordering Ridgefield Conservancy land, and its listing credits the design to builder Carl Lecher. Steel-beam construction, soaring ceilings, walls of glass, exposed beams and maple floors define the 3,486 square feet, and wraparound decks take in lake and distant mountain views. The primary suite has its own level, and a part of the house with a separate entrance, full bath, laundry and kitchenette suits guests or extended family. The listing cites a newer roof and a new well system, and says furnishings are available for purchase.

146 Tanton Hill Road, 2 to 4 p.m., $1,799,000. This four-bedroom, 4.5-bath stone-and-shingle colonial has 4,295 square feet on 1.24 acres, with a heated saltwater gunite pool, installed in 2022, that has an automatic cover and a sun deck for in-pool lounging. The remodeled kitchen has a timbered ceiling and opens to a family room with a cathedral ceiling and a two-story wall of windows. The main level also has a library with a fireplace and floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, plus a den the listing says could serve as another bedroom. A finished lower level adds media, recreation and fitness rooms, and the listing cites a whole-house generator and built-in audio.

Also open Sunday: 22 Beaver Brook Road, 1 to 3 p.m. (see Saturday).

Saturday's single open house leaves most of Halloween free for trick-or-treating. Sunday is the busy day. Start at 11 a.m. in Twin Ridge, then take the 12:30 p.m. pair: the Saunders Lane Mid-Century ranch and the Fox Hill condo. Four homes open at 1 p.m., including the Catoonah Street carriage house in the village and the Mamanasco Road contemporary on the lake. Finish at 2 p.m. with the Hillcrest Court house above the same lake or the Tanton Hill colonial and its pool. Remember that clocks fall back an hour early Sunday morning.
