Beloved Downtown Eatery Shutters On Main Street In Ridgefield

A popular fusion restaurant and cocktail bar that served Ridgefield with brunch, lunch, dinner, cocktails and late-night food is closing.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — Tequila Escape’s Ridgefield restaurant has closed its doors, ending a run on Main Street that the restaurant’s management described as years of dinners, margaritas, celebrations, late nights, birthdays, toasts and memories.

The restaurant, at 439 Main St., described itself on its website as a Latin, Mexican and South American fusion restaurant and cocktail bar serving Ridgefield, with brunch, lunch, dinner, cocktails and late-night food. The business also has a Stamford location.

“With heavy hearts, after so many incredible years, we want to share our deepest gratitude with the Ridgefield community,” management wrote in the Facebook post.

The restaurant thanked guests, neighbors and current and former staff members for supporting the business.

“What started as three guys with a dream and the hope of creating something special became so much more than a restaurant,” management wrote. “It became a place filled with friendships, celebrations, laughter, music, and memories that we will carry with us forever.”

Tequila Escape Kitchen + Cocktail Bar opened May 2, 2019, moving into the former space of the 439 Kitchen and Bar.

On its website, Tequila Escape described its menu as food prepared to order from sustainable, organic, wild-caught, grass-fed and local sources, and said its drinks were made with fresh juices, fruits and other ingredients.

The closing note did not state a reason for the closure or announce future plans for the Ridgefield space.

“While our doors may be closed, the relationships and memories created inside these walls will always remain,” management wrote.

The post ended with a message to the town: “Ridgefield, thank you for letting us be part of your community and your lives.”
