Bomb, Assault Weapons Removed from Ridgefield Home

Police charged the man with disorderly conduct, as well as possession of a veritable arsenal

RIDGEFIELD, CT — State police removed an explosive device as well as 16 assault weapons, 76 unregistered high-capacity magazines and six silencers from a Ridgefield home Thursday morning.

Ridgefield police responded to a disturbance at 180 Tackora Trail at 12:30 a.m. While arresting Mark Albin, 49, for disorderly conduct, the police removed firearms from the residence for safekeeping. At that time they discovered illegal firearms, high-capacity magazines, and an explosive device, according to the police report.

The local police called in the state police bomb squad to defuse the device.

In addition to the one charge of disorderly conduct, Albin was charged with 76 counts of possession of an unregistered high-capacity ammunition magazine, 16 counts of possession of an assault weapon, six counts of possession of a silencer and one count of manufacturing a bomb.

Albin was held on a $100,000 bond, and appeared in Danbury Superior Court later Thursday morning.
