Join us for a fun-filled Sunday fishing tournament organized by our youngest farmers, Jonah and Crispin Brewster. Located a short walk from the Main Barn at <a href="https://www.thehickories.org" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">The Hickories</a>, our pond is teeming with rainbow trout and bass. Prizes each Tournament Round for Heaviest Fish and more. 4 different time slots available May 10th and May 17th.All ages welcome to fish and compete. $25 entry fee: catch and release or catch and keep up to 2 trout Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.Prizes! Mushroom Walk with Mycologist, Zaac Chaves 
Grab a notebook and join Zaac Chaves on a mycologically focused ecological tour in Ridgefield on Sunday, May 31 at 3 p.m. During this outing we will identify seasonal mushrooms. You will help us catalog species (including possibly rare sightings) and even help document increasing evidence of climate change locally. No experience required. Zaac Chaves works on species surveys for several sites and sometimes with organizations including Harvard University, the New York Botanical Gardens, and the National Parks Service. We have found several new species at many sites and are also helping recognize others which are rare and disappearing. He also serves as the chief editor of the Boston Mycological Club Bulletin, established in 1897.

Teens, come to the Ridgefield Library on Monday, May 11th, and grab a free&nbsp; kit to make a woven bracelet using a technique called kumihimo. The kit will contain everything you need to make the craft.
Kits will be available on a first-come, first-served basis outside the Ellis Family Teen Center, and will remain there until they are gone.&nbsp; Library hours are 10:00 am – 8:00 pm.

French: Beginner 3 - Evening - on Zoom This Zoom class is for people who have a&nbsp;little experience of French. We will continue&nbsp;the 6 session class that ended May 4&nbsp; and build&nbsp;additional foundation and become familiar&nbsp;with the practical, everyday usage. Along the&nbsp;way, we will explore aspects of French&nbsp;culture and history to tantalize those&nbsp;considering a visit to France. Text is&nbsp;"French Made Easy Level 1" by Lingo&nbsp;Mastery.&nbsp; Instructor&nbsp;Nancy Maxwell was a teacher and counselor in an international school in Switzerland for over twenty years and traveled extensively throughout Europe,&nbsp;particularly France. She has taught French for Travelers previously in Ridgefield and has been teaching on Zoom for several years. 6 Sessions (9 hours) $ 130 (Ridgefield Sr./Disab. $ 116) Mon., 5/18; 6/1, 8, 15, 22, 29 from&nbsp;5:30 to 6:55 p.m. on Zoom French: Intermediate/Advanced - Day - In Person We will read various articles about France, French culture and the French language. Handouts will be distributed at the beginning of each class.&nbsp; Instructor Jean Vianes is a native French speaker who formerly worked for IBM in France and the U.S. and is now teaching and tutoring French.

Ridgefield, CT — What happens when feminist pop art meets nonpartisan civic engagement? You get “Suffrage Soup.”
The League of Women Voters of Ridgefield is kicking off its 11th Annual Art Raffle Fundraiser with an original, framed acrylic painting by Jennie Carr,&nbsp; a bold, humor-infused artist and member of the Ridgefield Guild of Artists.
Valued at $700, the 16” x 22” piece will be awarded to one lucky winner on May 13, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. during a Meet the Artist drawing at Queen B Coffee Company (winner need not be present to win). Raffle tickets are $10 each, and all proceeds support the League’s nonpartisan voter education efforts. You can meet the artist next Tuesday, March 10th at 10am at Queen B and see the artwork in person!
Carr, who shows her work throughout New England, has also been featured in Ms. magazine. Jennie is known for art that blends cultural commentary, humor, and unapologetic feminist energy. In a past interview, she described art as a way to “shine a light on the darknesses that creep up on us in society,” adding that it can serve as both bridge and catalyst.
“Suffrage Soup” embodies that spirit. It’s playful yet pointed, colorful yet grounded in civic purpose. It’s a reminder that democracy is not a spectator sport, and that creativity can be a powerful force for engagement.
For more than a decade, the League’s annual art raffle has connected the local arts community with supporters from across the region and beyond. What began as a creative fundraiser has become a beloved tradition. A tradition that fuels trusted, nonpartisan voter education in every election cycle.
Tickets are available for $10 each at <a href="https://www.rlwv.org/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">www.rlwv.org</a>.
