You can expect an evening filled with good cheer and laughter amongst friends, great music – including a live set by two special guests – cocktail hour, cuisine by Gallo Ristorante, and a rockin’ after-party with DJ and dancing. In the year leading up to the American 250th celebration, a team of archaeologists has found exciting new evidence that adds to the understanding of the Battle of Ridgefield and its place in the history of the United States. Dr. Kevin McBride, principal investigator for Heritage Consultants LLC, led the work in this second study sponsored by the Ridgefield Historical Society under a National Park Service American Battlefield Protection Program grant.&nbsp; Dr. McBride will talk about the team’s findings on April 23rd. It’s become clear that the Battle of Ridgefield encompassed at least four engagements, with harassment of the British continuing from Ridgebury right through the center of town to their overnight encampment south of the village.
This event is co-sponsored by the Ridgefield Historical Society and the Ridgefield Library and is part of both organizations’ commemoration of the 250th&nbsp;anniversary of America in 2026. Admission is free, thanks to the Battlefield Grant, but registration is required on the Ridgefield Historical Society&nbsp;<a href="https://ridgefieldhistoricalsociety.org/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">website</a>.

Kathy Coe paints with an eye for both likeness and spirit. Her portraits, still lifes and figural works don’t simply capture appearances – they reveal personality, presence and the quiet truths of her subjects. Working from life and guided by natural shifting light, Coe builds her compositions intuitively, rather than imposing a fixed plan; she follows feeling, allowing each painting to unfold into its own mood and voice.
Trained at the Du Cret School of the Arts and the National Academy of Fine Arts and Design, Coe studied with masters including Furman Finck, Ron Sherr, Harvey Dinnerstein and Mary Beth McKenzie. The foundation in rigorous observation is matched by her gift for color and atmosphere – subtle harmonies that give her paintings both intimacy and radiance.
Throughout her career, Coe has received numerous honors, among them the Elizabeth Greenshields Grant, the Edward Mooney Traveling Scholarship, the National Academy Lorraine Grace Award and Helen M. Loggi Award, the James Sudan Bronze Medal, and the Salmagundi Silver Medal for drawing.

Charis Chamber Voices celebrates America’s 250th birthday with Songs of Democracy: Friday April 24 at 7:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of New Canaan, 178 Oenoke Ridge Road, New Canaan, CT, and Saturday, April 25, at 4:00 p.m. at Reformed Church of the Tarrytowns, 42 N Broadway, Tarrytown, NY. Charis’s Artistic Director, Jeremy Wiggins, conducts, accompanied by Terence J. Flanagan at the piano.
The all-American program includes Howard Hanson’s Song of Democracy, his setting of a Walt Whitman poem that celebrates the country’s youth, vigor, and destiny. Fern Hill, by John Corigliano, on a poem by Dylan Thomas, is a nostalgic evocation of childhood with just a hint of what was to come. Works by Aaron Copland and Randall Thompson and familiar American favorites round out the program. 
Charis’s famous wine and cheese reception will follow each concert. We look forward to sharing this birthday bash with you!

The Remembrance Parade
The Cannon Ridge Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, is pleased to invite you to the Remembrance Parade featuring Gold's Dragoons, The Governor's Horse Guards and Mt. Kisco Scottish Pipe and Drum Corps. &nbsp;This America 250 commemoration honors the Patriots and veterans who supported the cause of American independence, and remembers the sacrifices made at the Battle of Ridgefield. The Parade is free and open to all. &nbsp;We encourage everyone in our community to join as we pause to reflect on our shared American history during the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.&nbsp;
The parade will commence at 12 noon on April 25th from Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church on Main Street ending at the Battle of Ridgefield memorial plaque in Ballard Park with a wreath laying ceremony honoring:
Patriots and Veterans who supported American Independence, particularly at the Battle of Ridgefield &nbsp;
Lieutenant Colonel Abraham Gould, a Gold's Dragoon killed during the Battle of Ridgefield&nbsp;
British troops buried on the battlefield who fell in honorable service to their King
