Spanish: True Beginner, Part 1 - Day - in Person This course is for students who have had little to no Spanish instruction. It covers basic vocabulary, grammar, and conversation using the present tense. A Spanish for Beginners Manual will be sent to you by email. If you are not able to print it, copies will be available at class for $10. Instructor: Norma Lopez-Burton, Emerita. She taught all levels of Spanish at the University of California at Davis. Class reviews and covers basic vocabulary, pronunciation, elementary conversation, sentence structure, and basic grammar using the present and past tenses. Focus is on how to carry on simple conversations in Spanish, as spoken in Latin America. Text is Learn Spanish the Fast and Fun Way (Barron's 4th Edition). Instructor Oscar Vargas is a native of Colombia, who has lived here since 1969. A graduate of NYU, he worked in international business for about 20 years, and has traveled extensively in Latin America and Spain. He then ran his own business. He has taught Spanish here for over 29 years.

Beginning Crochet This course will cover what you need to know about hooks, yarn, crochet terms, reading patterns, and basic crochet stitches. You will work on fun projects - simple to more advanced - as you progress. Bring your own hooks or borrow from the instructor; practice yarn provided. Instruction provided for right handed crochet. Eileen Burton, a long-term instructor, learned to crochet as a child and has enjoyed crocheting as a hobby since then. She has taught a variety of classes to adults, including crochet and organic gardening. Class limit 5.

Beginning Tai Chi (Yang Long Form) Tai Chi, described as meditation in motion is a centuries old Chinese discipline used for health, relaxation, and meditation. Relaxation and inner calm and strength are emphasized. It can be practiced by anyone, regardless of age, sex or athletic ability. Tai Chi is considered a healing exercise. Taught by Gwen Roman (Wednesday evening) and Rod Barfield (Friday morning).
* Gwen Roman has extensive experience in the Arts of Tai Chi and Jin Shin Jyutsu. She has extensive experience teaching Tai Chi and trains with Myles MacVane. Other teachers include Alex Dong, Master Bing, and Wang Feng-Ming. Tai Chi Strength and Balance Exercises
Tai Chi Strength and Balance (Beginner): the Natural Way to Promote Health This class is a meditation in motion and a full body workout combined, all done standing (no mat). This first class consists of 35 basic Tai Chi exercises designed to promote better health, stress relief, balance and coordination, concentration, and internal organ massage. These exercises are based on Step by Step Tai Chi: the Natural Way to Strength and Healing by Master Lam Kam Chuen. Please have a set of 2 or 3 pound weights and a water bottle available. Studio Knitting for Beginners and Continuing
Keep your mind sharp by learning a new skill and keep your fingers nimble by keeping them moving. This open-knitting format is for both beginners and those who want to continue furthering their knitting skills. The participant will learn the basic stitches and develop skills in maintaining an even tension in the piece. The instructor will provide practice needles and practice yarn until the participant determines a project. After the selection of a project, the participant will purchase the necessary supplies. Projects have included knitting a scarf, sweater, blanket, and handbag. Instructor Lizabeth Doty, a professional educator for over 45 years, has taught some of her hobbies, calligraphy and knitting, to students of all ages for years. Join these fun, productive classes. She is a former teacher. Class size limited. Makeup date, if needed, is added to the end of the session.

You’ll learn how to: set up accounts with eBay and PayPal; price and prepare the right items for sale; list your items to increase saleability; work with buyers; ship your items, and deal with any issues that arise.&nbsp;

Come share your memories and stories for an upcoming true crime documentary about the 1970 Danbury bank robberies and bombings. The production team will sit down with you for a brief recorded interview, and you are welcome to bring along any historical photographs, clippings, or letters to be documented. Attendance is free and no appointment is required.

On February 13, 1970, three explosions tore through Danbury, CT.This was to be the finale of a stranger than fiction story, involving 2 brothers, that started in 1968 which involved bank robberies and murders in locations in Redding, Georgetown, and Vista, New York, as well as Missouri. Two of the murders were the brothers’ own father and grandmother. If you have info on any of the crimes committed in the aforementioned towns please contact the filmmakers or show up to the Danbury session .
Filmmaker, Blaze Mazur of Ridgefield, CT and Daniel J. Mulvihill, Jr., of Danbury, have extensively researched this story for over half a decade, having poured over thousands of pages of FBI files, National Archive materials, and filing FOIA requests with more than 20 agencies.They are still discovering many strange and unbelievable facts about this case and need local help from people who remember these crimes to bring the whole picture into focus before the memories of these crimes are lost forever. 
The pair will be holding a second “Tell Us What You Remember” session. The session will be on Friday, October 2 at the Danbury Museum also from 10am to 4pm. What the documentary makers are looking for are people who remember- a lead, a photograph, a clipping or those who want to give an interview on camera. They wish to tell this story truthfully so that the victims and their loved one, the witnesses and law enforcement are honored and their story is respected. 
To bring this film to full fruition, a fundraising effort is underway. The project is fiscally sponsored by Fractured Atlas, which makes your contributions and corporate donations tax-deductible.
