Strolling along the Norwalk River below Georgetown, you might see sea lamprey or river herring making their way upriver from the sea. These are sights no one has seen in almost a century!

We are witnessing the return of these species, along with many others, because dam removal has opened the bottom of the Norwalk River, connecting it to Long Island Sound. More dams are recommended to come down along our river, including in Ridgefield.

Join us at the Ridgefield Library on Tuesday, October 20th at 6:30 pm to hear from Save the Sound‘s dam removal experts Alex Krofta (Ecological Design Project Manager) and Paul Woodworth (Senior Director of Ecological Restoration) about the history of dams in Connecticut, why taking so many down now has become necessary and the challenges and opportunities that result. Please register.
