Cheapest Gas Near Me: Cost of Driving Is Climbing In Ridgefield
Those were The Good Ol' Days: The average gas price in Connecticut was just $2.76 a year ago.
RIDGEFIELD, CT — Gas prices in the Ridgefield area hit a new record on Wednesday — and have continued to climb.
As of Sunday, the average price for a gallon of gas in Connecticut is $4.47, up about a nickel since mid-week, and 86 cents from a month ago, according to the Automobile Association of America.
In Fairfield County, you can now consider yourself lucky if that's all you pay. The average price for a gallon of regular in these parts is about $4.53.
In Ridgefield proper, expect to pay even more. The price for the least expensive gallon of gas in town climbed 40 cents in the past week.
According to GasBuddy, the cheapest gas in the area is selling for $4.49 per gallon at Stateline Exxon, 242 South Salem Road.

Across the border in Massachusetts, the average price for a gallon of gas is $4.35. New Yorkers are paying $4.45 on the average. The nationwide average is $4.32.
Motorists can expect to pay more so long as the price of crude oil rises, AAA Northeast spokesman Fran Mayko said in a statement.
Gas mileage decreases rapidly when a vehicle is traveling more than 60 mph, according to AAA. Properly inflated tires can improve gas mileage by more than 3 percent per tire.
