Ridgefield Coronavirus Updates: 3rd Death, 42 Cases Reported
The accelerated pace of confirmed infections has caused Ridgefield to call for stricter enforcement of social distancing restrictions.
RIDGEFIELD, CT — Officials have reported a third death in Town due to the new coronavirus, and eight new positive cases reported in the past 24 hours.
The accelerated pace of confirmed infections has caused Office of Emergency Management to call for wider notification and stricter enforcement of social distancing restrictions.
"Because Ridgefielders are not doing their part, we are now forced to use precious personnel resources to tape, chain and post signs at all town fields and courts," First Selectman Rudy Marconi said. "Even today, with all our messaging about the seriousness of this situation, kids were seen playing Lacrosse at Tiger Hollow. Please stop and think about the lives you are endangering before you leave your house."

Health Director Ed Briggs said that the 42 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ridgefield
ranged in age from 19-89. Seventeen of those active cases are in lockdown at Benchmark Senior Living at Ridgefield Crossings on Route 7, according to Briggs. The first two Ridgefield men who died from the disease had been residents at the facility. The latest death has no association with that facility, according to Briggs.
