Danbury Hospital Honors Ridgefield EMS Workers

RIDGEFIELD, CT — Danbury Hospital honored the Ridgefield Fire Department and some of its personnel at a dinner this week.

On Tuesday evening, Danbury Hospital held its annual Emergency Medical Service Recognition Dinner which coincides with EMS Week. Firefighter Nick Paproski was recognized as the Ridgefield Fire Department EMS Provider of the Year. Fire-Medic Paproski was recognized for his "excellence in emergency medical care, and his commitment to education both for himself as well as other providers through well-prepared and delivered educational presentations," Ridgefield Fire Chief Jerry Myers said in a release. Paproski's research and investigations of emerging trends in EMS were also noted.

Captain Rommie Duckworth received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. This award "recognizes an individual who by their actions and innovative thinking contributed to expanding the future of the EMS field. The person’s contributions to pre-hospital care have been consistent and long-lasting, representing a lifetime of outstanding service to the profession and the public," according to the release.

Finally, the Ridgefield Fire Department was recognized as the EMS Service of the Year. This award is presented to the service that is noted to consistently work to improve their patient care through education and the service as a whole.
