3rd Annual Ridgefield Babe Ruth Softball Sunrise Cottage Benefit Tournament

Tournament from April 29th to May 1st.  The past two years’ tournaments contributed approximately $5,000 to the Ridgefield Sunrise Cottage.  Organizers hope to match the contribution total this year.

The Ridgefield Sunrise Cottage is home for developmentally disabled adults.  The Cottage was built in 2004 through a grass roots project campaign and is sustained through the generous support from the Northern Fairfield County community.  The Cottage affords its residents an opportunity to live and thrive in the Ridgefield community in a semi-independent environment.  The success of the Cottage has been its ability to help these individuals to grow and progress as functioning adults who are very active in the Ridgefield community.

This year the tournament will feature 12U and 14U girls fastpitch softball teams featuring the Ridgefield Babe Ruth Rebels in both divisions in addition to the Ridgefield Little League 12U Tigers and teams from Berlin, Darien, Fairfield, Milford, Norwalk, Southbury, Southington, and Stamford.

“Our girls from 5 through 18 years old truly enjoy hosting this tournament as they are giving back to their community and helping others while enjoying a sport they love to play,” said Ridgefield Babe Ruth Softball President Cary Nadel.

Once again throwing out the ceremonial first pitches Saturday at 9:00AM on the Veteran’s Park field will be Ridgefield First Selectman Rudy Marconi and Sunrise Cottage residents.
