Flash Flood Watch, Hazardous Weather Thursday Afternoon, Overnight

The National Weather Service has issued a “Flash Flood Watch” and “Hazardous Weather Outlook” for the state in its latest updated forecast Thursday morning.
The “Flash Flood Watch” is in effect from 5 p.m. Thursday until 3 a.m. Friday.

That is when showers and thunderstorms are forecast and heavy downpours are possible, which could cause flooding.
The National Weather Service writes that the rain and thunderstorms will move into the area this afternoon and continue into the evening.

Between 1-3 inches of rain is forecast for the area.
The weather service writes that “flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.”
As for the timing of this latest severe weather chance, it appears it will be mostly cloudy and dry throughout the day and showers are forecast to begin after 5 p.m. and intensify as the night goes on, and possibly continue until the early morning hours on Friday.
