Gravitte Places 5th in Javelin at State Open Meet
Ridgefield girls finish 28th overall, and the boys are shut out.
The Ridgefield High School girls track and field team finished 28th in the state Open meet Monday at New Britain's Willowbrook Park with eight points.
Freshman Ellie Gravitte led Ridgefield's effort by placing fifth in the javelin throw with a toss of 116'11'', earning the Tigers' half their points on the afternoon.
Last week, Gravitte won the javelin competition at the Class LL meet with a throw of 125'2'', which broke her own school record.

Gravitte had previously set the Ridgefield mark with a launch of 123'5" at the FCIAC championships.
Senior Katherine Howley finished 17th in the 800 meter run Monday, earning the Tigers no points for a finish outside the top 10.

The Tigers' other four points came from the 4x800 meter relay team, which placed fifth with a time of 9:30.20.
The relay team was comprised of Howley, sophomore Karryn Christiansen, junior Jenna McClane, junior Isabella Corso, junior Briana Corso and freshman Sarah Guillaume.
The Ridgefield boys' team did not finish in the top 65.
