Highlights from this week’s Board of Selectpersons (BOS) Meeting:

  • Congratulations to the following candidates on their appointments:
    • Denise Santangelo - Prevention Council
    • Kevin Caesgens - Graveyard Committee
    • Peter Kearney - Economic & Community Development Committee
    • Ian Dow - Tree Committee
    • Tom McManus - Tree Committee (re-appointment)
  • The BOS voted to adopt a Statement of Community-Wide Vision. In order for Ridgefield to receive a Charging Smart designation, the BOS must approve a vision statement that supports the development, adoption, and use of Electronic Vehicles (EVs) in the community. Adopting the statement will help the town qualify for future grants.
  • Ridgefield Action Committee for the Environment (RACE), is spreading the word about a program through Heat Smart, a non-profit organization, that offers relatively inexpensive home energy efficiency audits through the State and Eversource. A letter will be sent to homeowners in Ridgefield that have baseboard heating to alert them about the program and encourage them to think about a heat pump, which is three times more efficient than baseboard heating. These 250 households would not only switch to a more efficient heating system, but would also see financial benefits over time.
