Iconic Ridgefield Office Supply Store Going Out Of Business

After 70 years, Squash's Ridgefield Office Supply is selling its last post-it notes and paper clips, and closing up shop.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — A fixture on Main Street for nearly 70 years, Squash's Ridgefield Office Supply is closing its doors to retirement. Owner Whitney Williams made the announcement on social media, but has given no firm date for when the shutters go up.

In keeping with the "70" theme, and because "everything must go," the shop is offering up to 70 percent off on its remaining inventory.

Squash's has been the go-to supply shop for local students, artists and jelly bean aficionados for generations.

As the story goes, Squash's got its name from the nickname of its first owner, famous for regularly packing a lunch of the eponymous vegetable. "Squash" owned and operated the store for about 40 years before turning it over for the first time, and the shop has kept the moniker for all that time.
