On Friday, February 7th, more than 30 riders participated in a charity ride at JoyRide Ridgefield. Individual contributions from all riders combined with a generous anonymous local donor, and a raffle held at the Hideaway post party collectively raised over $12,000 in one night. All the funds raised will go to Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven.
“This was JoyRide Ridgefield’s very first charity event and we are delighted that we were able to raise the most money Todd has ever achieved in any one stop,” said Corey Londoner co-owner of JoyRide Ridgefield. “This is the first of many events we plan to hold. One of our main goals at JoyRide is to spread JOY with our cycling classes, but also to give back to our community of riders.”
Todd Ruggere is touring Connecticut to raise funds for Smilow Cancer Hospital by drinking a beer in each town in Connecticut. Ridgefield is his 11th stop in 2014. “JoyRide Ridgefield has set the bar high,” said Ruggere. “The spin class was an incredible way to all join together behind this cause. I met some amazing people from Ridgefield who were personally touched by cancer and directly benefited from the good work that Smilow Cancer Hospital provides. I hope their generosity is going to spill over to other towns and make this year’s tour a great success.”
