As Sean McEvoy steps down from the Ridgefield Board of Education, I want to offer a heartfelt thank you to a friend who has given so much of himself to our schools and our town.
Sean devoted countless hours to meetings, budgets, policies, and difficult decisions that deeply affect students, families, and staff across the district, and he did it with a steady sense of humor and humanity that made hard nights a little easier.
Serving on the Board of Education is often a thankless job, yet Sean showed up prepared, engaged, and willing to ask hard questions on behalf of the community, while still treating everyone with respect and professionalism.
Whether people agreed with him on every issue or not, his commitment to public service, to honest conversation, and to Ridgefield’s long-term success was always evident.
Public education depends on volunteers who are willing to listen, learn, and lead in challenging times, and Sean never shied away from that responsibility.
Ridgefield is better for his service, and those of us who had the privilege to work alongside him are better for his friendship.
I wish him well in this next chapter and thank him for the time, energy, and care he invested in our students and in all of us.
