Man in Stolen Vehicle Arrested in Ridgefield After Brief Pursuit: Cops

The man allegedly led Wilton PD on a brief pursuit.

A New Haven man was arrested on the Wilton/Ridgefield town line after police say an attempt to stop him for having a tail light out failed.

Wilton Police attempted to stop the man Sept. 17 around 1:20 a.m. in the area of Route 7 and Wolfpit Road in Wilton. After the vehicle failed to stop, spike strips were deployed just north of the Four Seasons Racquetball and the pursuit came to an end near the Days Inn in Ridgefield, police said.

Police found that Kareem Mayo, 38 was under the influence of crack and MDMA and was also in the possession of other narcotics. Mayo was also allegedly driving a stolen vehicle, police said.

He was charged with driving under the influence, third-degree larceny, interfering with an officer, possession of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless driving, engaging in pursuit and broken taillight.
