New Details Emerge in Ridgefield Fire Chief Investigation: Report

Fire chief Kevin Tappe had been under investigation by the town for an alleged policy violation before his retirement in January.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — A Freedom of Information lawsuit has ended in the town releasing a document about the town's investigation into an alleged "violation of town policy" by former Ridgefield Fire Department Chief Kevin Tappe, reports the Ridgefield Press.

According to the Press, the document released by the town suggested that Tappe appeared to be under the influence of alcohol at the scene of a fire at the Fox Hill condominiums in December. The documents contain a written statement signed by fire captain David McDevitt, according to the report.
