Ridgefield Girls Lacrosse Routs Stamford, 17-5

Liana Mathias and Taylor Fischer each score four goals for the Tigers, who improve to 4-0

The Ridgefield girls lacrosse team continues to roll early in the season.

Liana Mathias and Taylor Fischer each scored four goals Friday as the Tigers routed Stamford 17-5 in an FCIAC contest to improve to 4-0.

Mathias also had four assists for Ridgefield, which held a 7-2 halftime lead before outscoring the Black Knights 10-3 in the second half. Stamford fell to 2-2.

Shauna Norris and Maggie Curran added two goals apiece for the Tigers while Caroline Ogden, Kathryn Cholko,  Brita Christensen, Eliza Marcus and Hannah Dighton each scored once.

Maggie Philbin had seven saves in goal for the Tigers,  who are back in action on Saturday at home against New Milford (12 p.m.) in a non-league contest.

Morgan Hyland, Stephanie Kisciras, Hannah Dighton, Missy Hutchings led Ridgefield's defensive effort while Marcus and Cholko controlled the draw.
