Ridgefield to Appoint Interim Superintendent

The current schools chief, Dr. William Collins, will be out on medical leave longer than originally planned.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — The Ridgefield Board of Education plans to appoint an interim schools superintendent in light of the news that Dr. William Collins will be out on medical leave longer than originally planned.

The appointment is scheduled to be made in a closed-door executive session Monday night, the Ridgefield Press is reporting.

Dr. Collins took over the job from the previous interim superintendent in February. Dr. JeanAnn Paddyfote had been named to the temp slot following the tenure of Dr. Robert Miller, the district’s director of technology, who served as interim school chief from April through June of last year following the resignation of Dr. Karen Baldwin.

Collins had notified parents in an email on May 15 that he would be undergoing "a medical procedure that couldn’t wait until summer break," but indicated he expected to be out only four to six weeks.
