Ridgefield Boys Basketball Routs Danbury, Remains Unbeaten

Tigers defeat the Hatters 69-44 to improve to 10-0

Friday was supposed to represent the real first challenge of the season for the Ridgefield boys basketball team. Instead, the Tigers turned it into another rout.

Kurt Steidl scored 24 points as the Tigers drilled Danbury 69-44 to improve to 10-0. Steidl just missed a double-double, finishing with nine rebounds.

Ridgefield's margin of victory in its first 10 games have been 50, 23, 43, 34, 24, 21, 20, 26, 26 and 25 points. The Tigers have held all 10 of its opponents under 50 points.

Once again, Ridgefield showed its balance with four players scoring in double figures. Jeff Racy scored 14 points, Pat Racy 12 and Seth von Kuhn 11.

The first half was close with Ridgefield holding a 30-20 lead at the intermission.

However, the Tigers started to pull away in the second half, opening a 46-31 lead after the third quarter, then outscoring Danbury 23-13 over the final eight minutes.

Slumping Danbury suffered its third straight loss and dropped to 7-3.

Ridgefield's defense did not allow a single Danbury player to reach double figures as Javonte Parker and Speedy Harrington led the Hatters with nine points apiece.

High-scoring Danyjoel Harris was held to only three points by Ridgefield's tenacious defense.

Ridgefield could get a test on Tuesday when it hosts Trinity Catholic, which improved to 8-3 with an 86-43 win over New Canaan on Friday.
