Ridgefield Doctor Fined Over $270,000 for Fraudulent Billing
Dr. David K. Johnston, operator of the Osteopathic Wellness Center in Ridgefield, also served three months in federal prison.

RIDGEFIELD, CT-- The state Medical Examining Board disciplined six doctors on Tuesday, including Dr. David L. Johnston of Ridgefield, according to CT Health I-Team.
Johnston was reprimanded and fined $3,000 for billing Medicare and private insurance companies for osteopathic services that were actually massage services he did not provide, according to the report. Johnston falsely billed insurers for over $70,000 the Medical Examination Board said.

Johnston’s medical license was placed on probation for three years and ordered audits of his practice for two years are being ordered as well, according to the report.
Johnston served three months in federal prison and was ordered to pay $270,528 to settle civil claims related to the fraud, according to the report.
