Ridgefield Earns No. 5 Seed In Class LL Boys Basketball Tournament
The Tigers will open at home on Monday against No. 28 Simsbury and could face FCIAC rival Staples in the second round.

Following the most successful regular season in school history, the Ridgefield boys basketball team is the No. 5 seed in the CIAC Class LL state tournament.
The Tigers, 18-2 to earn No. 2 seed in the FCIAC playoffs, are guaranteed at least two home games should they advance.

The 12th-seeded Wreckers (15-5), who lost twice to Ridgefield during the regular season, host No. 21 in their first-round encounter Monday.
Ridgefield has been off since getting upset by Stamford 39-31 in the quarterfinals of the FCIAC playoffs on Saturday.

A total of 28 teams earned berths in the Class LL tournament by winning at least 40 percent of their games. The top four seeds - Windsor (19-1), St. Joseph (19-1), Hartford Public (19-1) and Holy Cross of Waterbury (18-1) - received first-round byes.
Other FCIAC teams in the field include No. 7 seed McMahon (16-4), No. 11 Westhill (15-5) and No. 18 Stamford (13-7).
Last season, Ridgefield qualified as the No. 21 seed and lost to Harding 54-51 in the first round.
Bridgeport Central is the defending Class LL state champion, but the Hilltoppers did not make the tournament this year.
The state title game will be played either March 18 or 19 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville.
