Ridgefield Election: Julia London For Board Of Education
Julia London shared views with Patch about running for Board of Education.
RIDGEFIELD, CT — The state Municipal Election is Tuesday, Nov. 2.
Patch contacted candidates to answer questions about their campaigns.
Republican Julia London, 43, is running for Board of Education in Ridgefield.
Occupation: Attorney
Family:My husband Mike, and two sons, Anders (11), and Nicholas (9). The boys' grandparents are in Stamford and South Salem, and are regular attendees at weekend lacrosse, football, and basketball games!
The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:
In 2020 and throughout this year, I have advocated for schools to remain open to the fullest extent possible under the circumstances, and to keep quarantining to a minimum.
Critical differences between me and my opponents:
I have two kids in the Ridgefield Public School system who are both very active in sports and other activities in this town. As such, I am tapped into the concerns of RPS parents specifically, have listened to those concerns, and have proved that I am ready and willing to speak up on their behalf.
Accomplishments:
As an attorney, I regularly work with other lawyers to reach settlements and come to other agreements when appropriate. I have always taken the view that a willingness to listen, keep an open mind, and remain civil is necessary when working with people whose interests may vary from my own. In my nearly ten years as a prosecutor in the New York County District Attorney's Office, I also worked with various local agencies to advocate for the best interests of children.
Other issues:
Maintain reasonable class sizes.
Assure that taxpayer funds benefit Ridgefield students.
Ensure a challenging, nonpolitical, and academically rigorous curriculum for Ridgefield students.
What else would you like voters to know about you?
I'm an avid runner and music lover. As soon as the campaign is over, I'm hoping to sign up for a race, see a show at the Playhouse, and get back to my favorite "midlife crisis activity" -- learning the drums!
