Julia Cencebaugh-Kloth, Curator of Archival Collections for the Garden Conservancy, UConn Master Gardener and former President of the Ridgefield Garden Club, spoke to the Ridgefield Garden Club about her love for growing stunning dahlias. She walked the members through the entire process of growing dahlias, starting with soil preparation, planting techniques, plant nutrition, staking the plants, deadheading and propagating for increasing varieties and yields. Many different dahlia sizes and colors were presented to suit the particular time of the growing season, garden location, and horticultural style. We had the pleasure of viewing Julia's garden which she cultivated over the years into a true masterpiece. All left with a deeper appreciation for these magnificent flowers, greater knowledge of the growing process, and a lovely gift from Julia to plant.
