The Ridgefield girls basketball team set the stage for Friday's first-place showdown against the Eagles by defeating Fairfield Warde 40-33 on Thursday night.
Molly Welch scored 12 points and Emily Favorite added nine for the Tigers (12-1, 12-3), who pulled within one-half game of idle Trumbull atop the FCIAC standings.

The winner of Friday's showdown in Ridgefield will have sole possession of first place and the inside track to the top seed for the FCIAC playoffs as it will own the tiebreaker edge.
While Ridgefield will have to play on back-to-back days, Trumbull (12-0, 13-1) could be rusty as the Eagles have not played since defeating McMahon 58-38 last Friday.

Thursday's contest was the first for Ridgefield since the Tigers suffered their initial FCIAC defeat of the season with a 67-61 setback at New Canaan last Friday.
