Ridgefield Girls Lacrosse Opens With Two Wins

Tigers beat McMahon 18-8 on Friday and edge New Fairfield 10-9 on Saturday

The Ridgefield girls lacrosse team opened its season with a pair of wins, defeating McMahon 18-8 on Friday and edging New Fairfield 10-9 on Saturday.

In the contest against McMahon, Caroline Ogden led the way with eight goals while Shauna Norris and Maggie Curran added four apiece.

Cara Lockwood and Liana Mathias each chipped in with one goal. Taylor Fisher contributed five assists and Maggie Haberline made five saves in goal for the Tigers.

Ridgefield held an 8-3 lead at halftime, then outscored the Senators 10-5 in the second half to pull away.

On Saturday,  Ogden and Fisher supplied most of the offense with four apiece apiece. The other goals were registered by Melissa Galione and Brita Christensen.

Norris had three assists and Ogden,  Eliza Marcus, Galione and Caroline Murray also picked up one assist.

Haberline finished with five saves for the Tigers,  who were nursing a 7-6 lead at the intermission.

Tara Donovan  (four goals) and Morgan Labarbera (three) paced New Fairfield. Danielle Doscher and Casey Jageman each scored one goal for the Rebels, who received 10 saves from Charlotte Osborne.
