Ridgefield Girls Lacrosse Routs Pomperaug 25-6 To Improve To 3-0

Team raises more than $400 for breast cancer research

The Ridgefield girls lacrosse team was a winner in more ways than on one Wednesday.

On a day in which they raised more than $400 for breast cancer research, the Tigers rolled to a 25-6 victory over Pomperaug to improve to 3-0. The Ridgefield players wore girls pink jerseys in support of the cause.

Liana Mathias (six goals and two assists) and Caroline Ogden (five and three) led the way for the Tigers, who built a 15-3 lead at the half.

Taylor Fischer also finished with eight point on three goals and five assists while Melissa Galione  added three goals and three assists.

Kathryn Cholko, Brita Christensen, Maggie Curran each had two goals. Eliza Marcus chipped in with a pair of assists, with Caroline Murray, Cara Lockwood Blake Divitto and Casey Briody all picking up one.

Maggie Philbin had seven saves in goal for the Tigers, whose defense was led by Morgan Hyland, Stephanie Kisciras, Hannah Dighton and Missy Hutchings.

Margaret Flemming scored three goals and Jamie Silverman registered three assists to lead Pomperaug.

The Panthers' other goals were scored by Megan Gaffney, Abby Dwyer and Shayna Delaney.
