Ridgefield Hires Consultant to Analyze Empty School Bus Problem: Report
A school board member reported seeing a bus leave Ridgefield High School with just four students on board.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — In a move that school officials hope will provide long-term savings, the Ridgefield Public School District has hired a consultant to analyze the efficiency of the district's school bus routes, reports the Ridgefield Press.
The district has hired Montana-based Education Logistics too look at ridership, capacity and routing, with the hopes that savings could be identified, according to Superintendent Karen Baldwin. The report further indicated that the savings could allow the district to enable a later start time at the high school.
At a Jan. 26 Board of Education meeting, board member Doug Silver noted that he had seen busses leaving the high school with just four students on them. The report further indicates the meeting drew a crowd of nearly 100 due to the topic of later school start times.
