Ridgefield Named to List of Safest U.S. Cities

RIDGEFIELD, CT — A city-ranking service has named Ridgefield to their top-ten list of safest places to live.
HomeSnacks combines recent data from the Census, FBI, OpenStreetMaps, and dozens of other sources into studies intended to help people understand what it’s like to live in different communities across the country. They have been professionally ranking cities, neighborhoods, counties, and states across America for over three years.
For the 2019 "safest cities" rankings, just released, the criteria analyzed were:
- Violent Crimes Per 100,000 residents
- Property Crimes Per 100,000 residents
The numbers came from the latest FBI Crime Data.
Ridgefield came in ninth place on the "safest cities" list, while Grafton, WVA, won the top spot.
So what do the numbers for violent crime, murder, robbery, and aggravated assault in Ridgefield look like? Big, fat zeros in all four categories, according to HomeSnacks. The town's biggest outlaw category was property crime, with a score of 437.8 incidents per one thousand residents.
