Ridgefield Ousted From FCIAC Boys Basketball Tournament

Poor shooting dooms Tigers in 39-31 upset loss to Stamford

Cold shooting doomed Ridgefield's chances of advancing in the FCIAC boys basketball playoffs Saturday as the second-seeded Tigers were upset by No. 7 Stamford 39-31 in the quarterfinals at Fairfield Ludlowe.

The Tigers, who suffered only their third loss of the season, were held to just one basket for most of the second half and scored only four points in the third quarter. They were blanked for the first five-plus minutes in the fourth period.

Stamford (14-7) avenged a 47-46 regular-season loss to Ridgefield and advanced to Monday's semifinal against Westhill, which defeated McMahon 77-75 in Saturday's first game.
