Ridgefield Police Department Names 2021 'Officer Of The Year'

The Ridgefield Police Department has named Officer Carlos Olivares​ 2021 Officer of the Year.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — The Ridgefield Police Department has named Officer Carlos Olivares 2021 Officer of the Year.

The Ridgefield Exchange Club presented the honors to Olivares at the statewide awards ceremony at the Aqua Turf Club in Southington on Thursday.

Officer Olivares began his career with the Ridgefield Police Department in 2019.

Olivares, a member of the RPD since 2019, also serves in the United States Air Force Air National Guard and has been deployed numerous times.

Police officials praised Olivares as "a proactive, enthusiastic officer, who always puts the community before himself."

He is a frequent volunteer in PBA events and community policing initiatives, and has received numerous letters of recognition from the public, for his dedication and commitment to the community, according to police.
