Ridgefield Police Investigating Stolen Cars, Numerous Vehicle Break-Ins

Police are urging residents to keep their vehicles locked at all times, and to remove valuables from unattended vehicles.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — On Monday, the Ridgefield Police Department announced over a dozen incidents of vehicle break-ins and two reports of stolen vehicles in town over the weekend. Residents are reminded to lock their vehicles and to remove all valuables from their vehicles.

The following is a rundown of the reports.

  • Saturday, Feb. 4: Police received five reports of parked vehicles being entered on Danbury Road (Rte. 7). Police determined that the break-ins occurred over Friday night into Saturday, and that all of the vehicles were unlocked at the time. Some of the owners reported that items were stolen, and all of the vehicles were rummaged through, police say.
  • Saturday, Feb. 4 at 11 p.m.: Police received a complaint of a stolen vehicle at the Branchville Train Station. The Chevy Suburban was found Sunday at the West Redding Train Station parking lot. Police say the keys were left in the vehicle at the time of the theft.
  • Monday, Feb. 6: Police received reports of parked vehicles being entered on the following streets: Old Stagecoach Road, Bob Hill Road, Todds Hill Road, Aspen Ledges Drive, Great Hill Road, Douglas Lane, Mountain Road and Lakeview Drive. Police determined that the incidents occurred overnight Sunday into Monday, and that all of the vehicles were unlocked at the time. Some of the owners reported that items were stolen, and all of the vehicles were rummaged through, police say.
  • Monday, Feb. 6: Police received a report of a stolen Saab 93 parked in the driveway of a residence on Lakeview Drive. Police say the keys were in the vehicle at the time of the theft.
