Ridgefield Police Kick Off Special Olympics Torch Run
The 30th Annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Connecticut happens June 8 through June 10 in communities across the state.

Ridgefield and Wilton Police Officers carried the "Flame of Hope" torch Wednesday on Main Street as they kicked off the annual torch run.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Connecticut. The run takes place place Wednesday through Friday, June 8th through 10th in communities across the state.
Officers volunteer their time to serve as torchbearers to carry the Special Olympics “Flame of Hope” through their towns and cities, passing off to other towns' law enforcement as they reach the border, to raise awareness and funds to benefit Special Olympics.

Over 1,500 local law enforcement officers are participating in the run, along with Special Olympics athletes over the course of more than 530 miles. Spectators are encouraged to come out and cheer on their local officers and show their support for Special Olympics.
