Ridgefield Police Warn Of Phishing Text Scam
Ridgefield police warn of phishing texts about fake traffic tickets and will discuss scams at a March 26 event with RVNAhealth.
RIDGEFIELD, CT — Police in Ridgefield are warning residents about a phishing text message scam circulating in the area that falsely claims recipients have unpaid traffic citations.
According to a notice from the Ridgefield Police Department, the fraudulent messages state that recipients have unpaid “final notice” traffic violations and warn that their driver’s license could be suspended. The messages typically include a link that police say is designed to obtain personal or financial information.
Police said the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles does not send text messages regarding violations.
