The Connecticut Basketball Club, featuring four members of the Ridgefield High School team, finished third in the 10th grade bracket in the Division II AAU national tournament in Orlando, Fla.

The fomer Tigers on the CBC squad were Kurt Steidl, Jeff Racy, Chipper McClelland and Jonathan Hicks.

The CBC breezed through pool play at 3-0, routing Jacksonville United (81-32), North Carolina Blazers (77-52) and Adirondack Titans (75-31).

CBC advanced to the championship bracket and defeated the Maryland South River Shooters (62-43), the New York City Malik Sealy All-Stars (67-56) and the Long Island Lightning (70-50).

In the semifinals, CBC lost to the eventual champion Fayetteville Stars 73-59, but the team rebounded to defeat the Rising Stars 77-56 in consolation game to earn the bronze medal. The team finished 7-2 in the tournament.

 Brian Bollerman, a recent graduate of Ridgefield High School who is swimming for the Ridgefield Aquatics Club, has had a successful week at the U.S. junior nationals in Palo Alto, Calif.

On Monday, Bollerman, who is headed to the University of North Carolina, qualified fifth in the 200-meter breaststroke with a time of 2:19.46. That enabled him to also qualify for the U.S. Olympic trials set for June in Omaha, Neb.

Bollerman finished 10th in the finals of the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:20.23.

Ridgefield has four swimmers - Bollerman, Andrew Klutey, Grayson Smith and Faith Martin - taking part in the junior national championships which continue through Friday.
