Still ranked second in the state, the Ridgefield boys hockey team puts its 11-game winning streak on the line Wednesday when the Tigers host New Canaan at the Winter Garden Arena (8:30 p.m.).

The Tigers have not lost since suffering a season-opening defeat to top-ranked Fairfield Prep and are coming off Saturday's 3-2 victory over Fairfield.

After a slow start, New Canaan, the defending two-time FCIAC champion, has been almost as hot as the Tigers.

The Rams lost 18 players from last season's 24-1 team and got off to an 0-2 start, but since then New Canaan has been on a roll.

With just one loss in their last eight games (6-1-1), the Rams have improved to 8-3-1 and defeated  Greenwich 3-1 in their last game on Saturday.

At 3:30 p.m., the Ridgefield girls host unbeaten New Canaan (14-0) and scoring sensation Olivia Hompe (46 goals). The Tigers are 10-4 following a 3-1 loss to Greenwich on Saturday.
