After going 10-0 in the first half of the season, the Ridgefield boys basketball team has started the second half 1-2, including Tuesday's 50-39 loss to Stamford.
The Tigers hope to reverse that trend on get back on track on Friday when the visit McMahon (7 p.m.), which has been struggling through a nightmarish season.
All year, Ridgefield has been known for its defense, holding 11 of its 12 opponents under 50 points. Against Stamford, the roles were reversed as the Tigers scored only 17 second-half points.
Ridgefield (11-2, 9-2) will be looking to shake off that defeat against the Senators (2-12, 2-10), who secured just their second win of the season with Tuesday's 51-43 victory over Darien. At the start of practice, McMahon was expected to contend for an FCIAC playoff spot
Meanwhile, the Ridgefield girls (5-10, 5-8) look to keep their state tournament hopes alive when they host McMahon (3-13, 3-11) in a 7 p.m. start.
The Tigers, who are coming off Tuesday's 66-44 loss to Stamford, need to win four of their final five games to earn a postseaon berth. But it won't be easy as they have games left against Trumbull, Fairfield Warde, Fairfield Ludlowe and Staples.
