Theboys hockey team routed Westhill 8-0 Monday night at the Winter Garden Arena.

Timmy Kelly registered a hat trick for the Tigers, who improved to 5-1 with their fifth consecutive victory.

The other goals were scored Danny McMullan, Corey Dunn, Cam McGuire, freshman Liam Smith and Jack Christensen, who had the overtime game-winner in Saturday's 5-4 win over Xavier.

Smith's goal on Monday was the first of his varsity career.

The Tigers were in control throughout, opening a 3-0 lead after the first period, then erupting for five goals in the middle period.

Ridgefield goaltender Dusty Rausa needed to make just three saves for the shutout.

Westhill netminder Tyler Phillipson stopped 30 shots as the Vikings (0-5-1) were outshot by a 38-3 margin.

The Ridgefield boys basketball team has cracked the top 10 in the New Haven Register's state media, the first time the Tigers (7-0) have been ranked this season.

St. Joseph (7-0) and Hillhouse (8-0) held on to the top two spots with the Cadets garnering 15 of 18 first-place votes.

Hillhouse earned two first-place votes with the remaining vote going to No. 3 Northwest Catholic (6-0).

Windsor (7-0) and New London (7-2) completed the top five. Kolbe Cathedral (7-0) is sixth, followed by Wilby (7-0), Career (6-1), Hartford Public (7-0) and Ridgefield.

Trinity Catholic, which had been seventh, dropped out after losing to Greenwich last week.

Three other FCIAC teams are receiving votes: Danbury (6-0), Bridgeport Central (4-1) and Greenwich (6-1).

Ridgefield is off until Friday when the Tigers visit Bassick.
