The boys hockey team puts its five-game winning streak on the line Wednesday when the Tigers visit Notre Dame of West Haven in a battle of state powers.

Ridgefield was ranked fifth in the most recent New Haven Register state media poll and Notre Dame of West Haven second. Faceoff is set for 4:15 p.m. at the Bennett Rink.

Ridgefield (5-1) has been scoring a ton of goals and is coming off Monday's 8-0 win over Westhill in its FCIAC opener. The Tigers have scored 33 goals in their last four games with three shutouts.

Overall, Ridgefield is riding a five-game winning streak since a season-opening 3-0 loss to defending state champion Fairfield Prep.

The Green Knights (7-1) played the Jesuits tough on Saturday, suffering a 4-3 loss for their first defeat of the season. A late rally fell short as Notre Dame of West Haven scored twice in the final four minutes to make it a one-goal game.

The Ridgefield girls team also is in action Wednesday, hosting Wilton at 3:30 p..m. at the Winter Garden Arena.
