The Ridgefield boys basketball team puts its unbeaten record on the line Friday when the Lions travel to Bridgeport to take on defending FCIAC champion Bassick.

Led by the trio of Kurt Steidl, Seth von Kuhn and Jeff Racy, the Tigers have gotten off to a 7-0 start, joining St. Joseph and Danbury as the FCIAC's only remaining unbeaten teams.

Remarkably, Ridgefield is allowing only 32 points per game, but Bassick thrives in an up tempo, so Friday's contest presents an interesting contrast in styles.

Ridgefield has been off since defeating Norwalk 60-40 last Friday. Von Kuhn scored 16 points and Jack Heller added 15 and 12 rebounds for the Tigers. Steidl also had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Bassick snapped a two-game, on-court losing streak with a 79-73 victory over Norwalk on Tuesday.

Jerond Rogers scored a career-high 26 points for the Lions, who rallied from a 34-22 halftime deficit. Russell Jones added 16 points for the Lions and Devin Coleman chipped in with 13.

Last Friday, Bassick suffered a 72-62 victory over Westhill, but the Lions have been awarded a forfeit victory after it was learned that Westhill used an ineligible player. Bassick's record now goes from 6-2 to 7-1.

On the girls side,  Ridgefield hosts Bassick at 7 p.m. The Tigers, who reached the FCIAC finals last year, have lost four in a row to drop to 3-6.

They are in desperate need of a victory against the winless Lions (0-9). Ridgefield is coming off Friday's 65-48 defeat to Norwalk.
