Its hopes for an undefeated season now dashed, theboys basketball team looks to bounce back on Friday when the Tigers host Bridgeport Central in what could be another difficult test.

After winning its first 10 games by at least 20 points, the Tigers suffered a 48-44 loss to defending Class M state champion Trinity Catholic on Tuesday night.

Ridgefield was in position to win, holding a 42-36 lead with just under five minutes left, but the Crusaders responded with an 11-0 run, blanking the Tigers scoreless until the final minute.

The loss dropped Ridgefield to 10-1 overall and 8-1 in the FCIAC and left St.Joseph as the league's lone unbeaten team.

Central (7-3, 7-3) is coming off a solid 61-45 victory over Greenwich that lifted the Hilltoppers into a tie for first place with the Cardinals in the FCIAC West Division.

Meanwhile, the Ridgefield girls face a must win when they visit Bridgeport Central for a 6 p.m. start.

The Tigers (4-9, 4-7) are coming off a 64-52 loss to Trinity Catholic and have dropped three in a row. They need to start piling up some wins if they are going to make the state tournament.

Bridgeport Central (2-12 1-11) certainly gives Ridgefield an opportunity for a much-needed victory. The Hilltoppers are coming off a 62-31 loss to Greenwich.
